Simple Blueberry Smoothie

Simple Blueberry Smoothie

One of the reasons I make sure to keep my freezer stocked is for smoothies. I always have frozen greens like spinach or kale and fruits like bananas and blueberries. There is something comforting about knowing that even if I don’t have fresh produce laying around, I can still whip myself up a healthy, filling snack like this Simple Blueberry Smoothie.

Fresh vs Frozen

If you only have fresh produce or a mix of both, don’t worry!

You can mix and match for this recipe.

The only tip I have is to compensate with ice. If you are using ALL fresh produce, I recommend upping the ice so you have a cold smoothie.

What’s Inside the Smoothie?

Simple Blueberry Smoothie

This smoothie only takes 5 minutes to make once you’ve got all the ingredients ready to go.

Made with simple whole foods, this recipe will keep you satisfied and nourished.

Frozen wild blueberries – Full of antioxidants, vitamins and fibre. They are the star of this recipe and are responsible for that vibrate blue hue.

Almond milk – The ideal base for any vegan smoothie. The light flavour doesn’t overpower other ingredients. I like to mix it with cold filtered water to up the hydration.

Chia seeds – Packed with fibre and omega 3’s to keep your body fueled and running smoothly. The chia seeds absorb more than double their weight and act as a natural thickener.

Hemp hearts – Full of heart healthy fats and plant-based protein.

Frozen banana – Adds a hint of sweetness and adds some bulk to the smoothie. Also provides essential vitamins, minerals and fibre.

Almond Butter – Healthy fats to keep you full, subtle nutty flavour and creates a smooth texture.

Medjool date – Lots of fibre and just the right amount of sweet. The ideal way to add natural sweetness to any smoothie.
