Buffalo Hot Sauce Chickpeas

Buffalo Hot Sauce Chickpeas

How is it something so simple can make such a BIG impact? These Buffalo Hot Sauce Chickpeas take just a few minutes to make, yet they offer incredible flavour to just about anything you add them to.

For those who are wary of spicy foods, fear not. This recipe provides just the right amount of heat without being over the top. The addition of vegan butter really mellows out the spice and leaves a silky, decadent sauce you will crave time and time again.

What is Buffalo Sauce?

Simply put, buffalo sauce is your everyday hot sauce (usually made with hot peppers, vinegar and salt) mixed with butter. Such a simple addition that turns the flavour and texture profile into something completely new.

For this recipe I used Frank’s RedHot Original, it’s a classic hot sauce with great flavour and can be found literally anywhere.

When it comes to vegan butter, I recommend Earth Balance Vegan Buttery Sticks. They are the closest thing I’ve found that resembles ‘real’ butter.

No Butter? Use coconut oil or olive oil in a pinch.

How to Use Buffalo Chickpeas?

Chickpeas are an amazing source of plant-based protein. They make the perfect meat alternative for just about any recipe. They are also full of fibre, vitamins and minerals making them a great addition to any diet.

Enjoy them hot or cold!

Some ways I love to use these Buffalo Hot Sauce Chickpeas are:

  • Salads
  • Wraps
  • Bowls
  • Omelettes
  • Quesadilla
  • Tacos
  • Nachos

Extra-Saucy Tip: Once the chickpeas are done cooking, toss them in an extra 1-2 tablespoons of hot sauce.
