One of my favorite go-to quick breakfasts or snacks is a piece of toast with some butter and jam. Unfortunately, most name-brand jams are sugar bombs. This 3- Ingredient Chia Seed Jam is the perfect substitute for any store-bought stuff.

Chia seeds are something I always have in my pantry, simply because of their versatility. They can absorb liquids to form a gel, thicken sauces, and be used in recipes instead of eggs. They are also known to help with digestive and heart health thanks to lots of fiber and omega 3’s. In fact, chia seeds are the # 1 source of omega 3’s in any plant-based diet. They are truly incredible and everyone should be reaping the benefits of these powerful seeds.
Now, you cant have jam without fruit, right? Well, luckily for you this recipe calls for real strawberries. Unlike its store-bought counterpart, which often contains simulated flavors from concentrate that leaves you with no fiber or nutrients, and a ton of sugar. Feel free to use fresh or frozen, as long as it’s actually a fruit.
Sometimes you need sugar and not all sugars are created equal. I love maple syrup here because it contains minerals and antioxidants you won’t find in table sugar or high fructose corn syrup. Although all sugar should be consumed in moderation, if you gotta have it, I recommend using those that are natural.
This healthy 3- Ingredient Chia Seed Jam can be made on the fly and can be used in so many ways. I love it on oatmeal, in baked goods, yogurt, or on toast like my Toast with Whipped Cottage Cheese + Chia Seed Jam.

3- Ingredient Chia Seed Jam
Ingredients
- 2 cups frozen or fresh strawberries
- 2 tbsp chia seeds
- 2-3 tbsp maple syrup
- pinch of salt
Instructions
- Heat a sauce-pan over medium heat.
- Add all ingredients and stir to combine, cooking for 10 minutes or until the berries begin to soften.
- Once berries soften, mash them with a fork or masher until large clumps are gone. Lower the heat and cook for another 3-5 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let cool to thicken before serving.
